About Me

This is probably where I tell you how old I was when I started writing songs. And the truthful answer to that question is I can’t remember. What I can remember is sitting on my bedroom floor as a toddler with a tiny notebook in front of me writing down what I thought was a song, thinking, “I can’t lose this piece of paper because this song is going to make or break my career.”

Well guess what guys – I lost the notebook.

And now you will never hear my song about the struggles of finishing all the green beans on my dinner plate.

But I found another notebook and continued writing – songs of loneliness and brokenness, sacrificial love and belonging, finding everything you dreamed of yet losing everything you needed; I kept trying to learn more about feelings.

After all, feeling is the backbone of songwriting.

Songwriting not only requires being in tune with how you feel but also learning the craft of making others feel something from that.

We need to be willing to feel, love, hurt, and fail. We need to notice everything and let it hit us hard in the heart. We need to confront every feeling and learn to express it in song.
